Amazon In Planning To Implement Cashier-less Technology in Whole Foods

News

The shopping giant Amazon is planning a pilot run of the implementation of its new “Just Walk Out” technology at two whole foods, by next year.

Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, as seen at its Amazon Go locations in Seattle, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, allows for a seamless shopping experience, in which customers enter by scanning a QR code, take whatever items they want to purchase, and leave by scanning another QR code, with the cost being automatically calculated and charged to the customer. This technology, while removing the need for cashiers, also makes for a simpler and more seamless shopping experience.

Amazon has stated that as of currently, they do not intend to add the technology to more of the stores. The tech will only be implemented to two stores, in Washington D.C. and Sherman Oaks, with the intent of gauging customer response.
