Project portfolio
Synchrony is a $28 billion company with a large-scale, multi-platform mobile app operation that is responsible for millions of financial transactions each day.
Synchrony needed to sunset two older mobile credit card apps and consolidate the hundreds of thousands of users to a newer, single app.
Our product manager guided a multi-shore team of developers, quality assurance engineers, and third party agencies through a months-long roadmap to determine the best way to
Plan the consolidation without losing any features which required recreating a key store locator feature in the new app
Keep stakeholders informed
Develop a messaging strategy for legacy users
Move the users to the new platform
Sunset the legacy apps
Track and report the transition
The store locator feature in the legacy apps was the key feature used by consumers. It did not exist in the main bill-paying app that the users would be transitioning to so it needed to be recreated in the target app.
Essentially, this meant that there were two complete projects running in parallel, assigned to this product manager.
Next, the featured needed designed, sprint planned and executed
First the new store locator app needed new requirements written and backlogged
Ultimately, the critical timing of the transition between these two projects and all their dependencies needed coordinated with a tight window of deployment, prior to a holiday schedule of massive use.
Meanwhile, customer transition planning took place, coordinated with multiple marketing teams.
The transition successfully took place with minimal shrinkage in user base and with no deterioration in ratings and reviews of the target bill-paying app.
