In a surprising move, Apple has announced its new self-service repair program launching in early 2022, which will allow iPhone users to purchase Apple-certified tools, parts, and training to service their own devices.
Following the controversy surrounding Apple’s decisions to make repairs of their new devices, most notable being the new iPhone 13 blocking features after screen repairs, difficult with third party parts, it is clear that Apple understands that its users want to be able to service their phones on their own. This action could be a bold, positive move for consumers as a whole, but the specifics of the new program are still yet to be revealed.
