Boston dynamics, most well known for their “Spot” robot dog, have been acquired by the Korean automotive company Hyundai. Following the sale, Hyundai owns 80% of Boston Dynamics, giving it a controlling stake.
The sale reportedly included $1.1 billion from Hyundai, and the car maker’s plans for the company are still unknown. However, Hyundai has previously announced a new division within it’s company, reserved for the research and development of Walking Cars. Where Boston Dynamics’ tech will be applied is unknown, but it can be assumed Hyundai will accelerate development of the previously mentioned Walking Cars.
