Tech conglomerate Facebook recently tested the waters of virtual reality, placing advertisements in the form of banners in one of the games on their VR ecosystem. The Oculus Quest 2 game Blaston was the target of this advertising test, as multiple ads were placed in the forms of banners in menu and hub sections of the multiplayer online game.
Facebook also announced its plans to begin incorporating targeted ads into more of its Oculus Quest 2 programs, and we can expect to see more advertisements added within the coming weeks. While it is currently unclear to what extent these ads will be incorporated into the oculus platform, Facebook is pioneering VR advertising, and it is unclear whether this approach of advertising will be widely accepted within other VR-focused companies.
