When looking to build a computer, whether, for games or work, the monitor is one of the key things not to underdo. Without a monitor, quite simply, your computer is unusable. However, it can be stressful to wade through the technical terms that bog down monitor specifications and tech lists. Here are some quick explanations of what some of the aspects of monitors mean.
Resolution
Put simply, the resolution of a monitor is how many pixels a monitor has in the format of width*height. The more pixels, the smoother the image. If your monitor is for work entirely, resolution is relatively unimportant, but you shouldn’t generally go lower than 1080p, or 1920×1080 pixels. Oppositely, if your monitor is to be used for leisure or gaming, you might want to go for a higher resolution, like 4k, or 3840×2160
Refresh Rates
The refresh rates of a monitor is how fast the monitor displays a new image. The higher the Hz value, the faster it refreshes, the smoother the video that is displayed looks. This value is not as important for work computers as it may be for gaming ones, but it is recommended to get at least a 75Hz monitor.
Curved Monitors
Curved monitors are generally wide-screen, high-resolution monitors which have a curved screen intended to immerse you further into your desktop computer. If you are looking for a larger, leisurely monitor, the curved monitor might be the way to go. That being said, it can be a good idea to get a curved monitor to enhance your workspace, and further, enable yourself to be immersed.
