Luxury Swiss Watchmakers are beginning to transfer some sales efforts online. Although most purchases still remain in person, some high-end watchmakers have decided to sell watches on the internet. One of such cases was that of the luxury goods group Hermes, which outperformed other watchmakers due to their early adoption of online sales.
However, some higher-end watchmakers are not planning to follow suit. For example, Thierry Stern, president of Patek Philippe stated that “People don’t want to buy a Patek online, the watches are expensive, you lose the beauty, the magic.” -Reuters.
